Projects in the Pipeline (2019)
In 2019, the Philippine Postal Corporation celebrates its 252nd anniversary with a landmark collaboration with Designer Circle Philippines (DCP) -- a celebration of the enduring and timeless tradition of letter-writing.
The collaboration, called "Liham" ("Letter"), also pays homage to Filipino traditional wear of a bygone era when sending handwritten letters was the only means of long-distance communication. Below is Simoun Andres' exquisite interpretation of the traditional Maria Clara dress, for "Liham".
Also in 2019, Filipino fashion will have an important celebration of indigenous textiles turned into modern, wearable art by the country's top and emerging designers: the "Philippine Fashion Revolution" (slated September 22-23, SMX Convention Centre, SM Aura, BGC Taguig).
The two-day fashion extravaganza features the work of almost 100 designers from all over the Philippines, including that of Simoun Andres. The photo below is Simoun's take on contemporary fashion fused with traditional sillhouette, all made of weaves indigenous to the Philippines.
