Montréal, Québec – The luxe, edgy fashions made by the best emerging designers from the Philippines, “LUXE Montreal, Best of the Islands 2020”, is coming to Montreal on May 23rd, 2020, Saturday, 6 pm, in Hellenic Community Center (5757 Avenue Wilderton).

The best of Filipino fashion design

Jhay Layson is known as the Philippines' "prince of sartorial fashion. His career kicked off in 2011 when he joined the 2nd season of “Fashion Crew: Gen M” the search for the quintessential fashion crew, which was aired on Philippine TV.

He is an active member of Designer Circle Philippines (DCP) since 2018. DCP is an elite, “by invitation only” guild of top Filipino fashion designers. Jhay has been touring his collections in America and Europe since last year. This is his first foray in Canada.

The "Luxe Fashion: Best of the Islands" tour kicked off last May 2019, a highly successful series in America (Austin, Houston, Beaumont in Texas, and in Los Angeles). Part of the proceeds of the show went to various charities in the Philippines. The tour’s 2nd salvo took place in European cities, Rome, Kristiansand city in Norway and Madrid.

This is the tour's third salvo, and it is being mounted with the cooperation of FFCAQ. The previous project of FFCAQ that promoted Philippine fashion was held three years ago, in partnership with the Philippine Department of Tourism and Philippine Airlines . That project was titled "Philippine Tapestry”, a showcase of Philippine indigenous textiles turned into couture fashion by top Filipino designer by Renee Salud.

This 2020, via "Luxe Montreal: Best of the Islands", FFCAQ is bringing the above-named designers from the Philippines to showcase "luxe" (or luxury) fashions, along with the richness of Filipino cultures and traditions.

The "Luxe Montreal: Best of the Islands" team in Montreal is headed by FFCAQ's top honcho, Luzviminda Ogerio Mazzone -- with the indefatigable team members, Cristy Celeste-Hunter and Jovy Faustino Narvas.

The general admission ticket cost is 40$. The VIP tickets are at 75$, which includes reserved seat and cocktails. For more information, ticket inquiries or sponsorship, please call Luzviminda Mazzone at 514-886-0092, or email at lmazzone@hotmail.com.
